Dr. Kiyotaka new IDM President

At this year’s General Assembly (GA) of the International Dental Manufacturers (IDM) on February 23, 2024 in Chicago, USA, Dr. Kiyotaka Nakao (JDTA) was elected as the new President of the International Dental Manufacturers (IDM).

Samantha Cheetham (ADIA) is now President-Elect for the term of office. Olaf Sauerbier, Deputy Chairman of the German Dental Industry Association (VDDI) and current FIDE President (The Federation of the European Dental Industry e.V.) was also elected First Vice President. Another member of the IDM Board is Past President Fred Freedman (DTA), who has led the association as President for the past two years.

The General Assembly also included a meeting with the current President and the Managing Director of the World Dental Federation, fdi, for a joint exchange of views.

The development of the Minamata Convention regarding the phase-down of amalgam was also discussed. Other topics included the new IDM website (https://www.idm-vox.org), the association’s finances, reports from the IDM member associations in their regions and the future distribution of tasks within the association.

The next idm meeting will be held in Istanbul in September this year.
